June 2005
Update: David Hamilton
Regular
readers will remember we spoke in our last newsletter to mountaineer
David Hamilton. As we go to press, we can report that David
is back at Advanced Base Camp on Mount Everest, having successfully
led a remarkably successful expedition to the Summit.
Eight out of eleven team members reached the
summit, including Jem Bojen, who at 62 is believed to be the
oldest Briton to reach the pinnacle. It crowns an exceptional
year for David- with a total of 21 team-members summiting,
this has been described as “overwhelmingly the most
successful Everest season for a British expedition organiser”.
Our thoughts are also with Ranulph Fiennes, who (wisely) turned
back on his summit attempt, after experiencing a heart flutter.
